Newtown Youth Wrestling is back on top. The program, consisting of grapplers in kindergarten through eighth grade, captured the Western Connecticut League championship at Danbury PAL on January 28, picking up where the young Nighthawks left off in 2020.

NYWA Wins New England Team Championship

The Newtown Youth Wrestling Association had already made its mark with numerous place winners at the state championships, but now the entire region is on notice as the Nighthawks went to the Youth New England Wrestling Championships at Starland Sportsplex & Fun Park in Hanover, Mass. on March 12, and came away with the first-place team trophy, as well as a trio of individual wins and six place-getters.

NYWA Stands Out in State Championships

NYWA State Champs!

The Newtown Youth Wrestling Association (NYWA) had quite an impressive showing in state championships during February with numerous place winners.

The 10U, 12U, and Middle School championships were held in New Haven on February 27. Camron Veneziano and Noah Blair earned titles; Joey Cotter placed second; Tristan Rosenshein was third; Jake Fattibene, Max Malitsky, Quinn Garvin, and Ryan Kenney all earned fourth; and Dominic Smeraglino was sixth... Read Full Article

Brighton Karvoski Earns National Titles, Raises Money for Cancer

In addition to beating opponents on the mats, wrestler Brighton Karvoski put in quite a bit of effort to help St Jude Children’s Hospital try to beat cancer this summer.

The 10-year-old Newtown Wrestling Association grappler competed in the Pin Cancer Nationals in Easton, Penn., earlier in August. He raised more than $1,000 for St Jude Children’s Research Hospital by reaching out to family and friends for donations, and went on to place first, winning a national title in the event that included 450 participants....Read Full Article

The Newtown Youth Wrestling Association (NYWA) had quite a showing at the Youth New England Tournament, in Salem, N.H. March 9 and 10. Newtown had several place winners, including a pair of champions, and the program was honored for its efforts.
